God has always called his people to be a blessing to the world. This missionary calling comes to life right here at home in Tauranga, as we learn to love and serve our neighbours.

Freeset is a fair trade business offering employment to women trapped in Kolkata’s sex trade. We make quality jute bags and organic cotton t-shirts, but our business is freedom! We would like to see the 10,000 sex workers in our neighborhood empowered with the choice of leaving a profession they never chose in the first place.

Jesus asks us to go and make disciples. We send teams throughout the year to different parts of the world to share the Gospel with those who maybe haven’t heard it yet.

We are preparing a team that will head over to the Philippines in January. Once there they’ll partner with a church in Manilla, where they’ll minister at a Sunday service, join them in their ministry to a rural village and outreach to a community living on a Manila rubbish dump.
We will also be working alongside the Ruel Foundation, lending a helping hand doing whatever is needed. Last time the team did some painting, took the older children on a trip to the beach, cuddled and fed babies as well as led devotions with the children and staff. We aim to jump in and provide support where ever we can.

We are in the process of forming another team to head over to Vanuatu.
The team will be working with Marine Reach who are currently building a Regional Training & Medical Centre just outside of Port Vila.
This centre will include:
– Rooms for emergency shelter for women and their children for whom it is not safe to stay in their homes.
– Training facilities to help empower the local women and families,
– A diagnostic laboratory that will be capable of testing for tropical diseases and also DNA testing – to enable police to prosecute rape cases as there is no DNA testing available anywhere.
The team will be doing a variety of finishing work on the centre, including putting together flatpack kitchen cabinets & building shelving etc. We need builders, electricians, plumbers, and people who have some practical skills.
Cost is expected to be $2000 max, hopefully, less, depending on available airfares at time of booking.
