Established in the 1900s, the Moor Potter Memorial Girls Hostel provides a safe haven and educational opportunities for girls who are particularly vulnerable. These girls often come from challenging backgrounds, including orphans and those from financially disadvantaged families. Many have fathers who are low-paid day laborers, possess insufficient land, or work as church employees with minimal salaries. Additionally, the hostel supports girls from families who face persecution for their new Christian faith.

By offering a secure environment and quality education, the hostel plays a crucial role in breaking the cycle of poverty and exploitation. It empowers young girls to build a better future, combats illiteracy, and fosters hope.

Here at Bethlehem Baptist Church (BBC), we aim to raise at least $50,000 to rebuild a hostel in Bangladesh. The hostel provides a safe and nurturing environment for girls to study, sleep, play, and eat together. Located close to one of the main schools, it serves children from rural villages who are often marginalized. We want to see them receive the education they deserve.

The four hostels sponsored by four New Zealand churches are ably run and managed, but we are also praying for some new house managers for one of the hostels. These four student homes offer:

• Dorm-style rooms
• Nutritious meals
• Grounds for play and sport
• Tuition assistance
• Healthcare checkups
• Finances for education
• Stationery and food

In this caring environment, students thrive, with many going on to become doctors, teachers, or leaders in their communities.

Please pray for the release of missionaries, both short-term and long-term, to Bangladesh. We have a 5–10-year window of opportunity to serve and spread the gospel there, building on the century-long work of NZ Baptists. Your prayers and support are crucial as we continue this mission.
